Canary Islands tourism is becoming more and more popular. Many people got bored of the crowded beach resorts of mainland Europe, and they choose Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura) for many reasons:
- Wild beaches
- Unusual volcanic landscapes
- Colorful mountain views with trekking
- Endless ocean
- Mild comfortable climate
- Delicious Canarian food.
Tenerife – the largest island of the Canary archipelago. During our first visit to the island, we met a company who shared enthusiastic reviews about Tenerife and told us that they had come for vacation here for the eighth time!
At first it seemed strange to us, but after we spent on the island more time, we understood why many people fall in love with Tenerife – magnificent black beaches, national parks with breathtaking views, “cosmic” landscapes of Teide volcano, boat trips with the opportunity to enjoy the attractions of the island from the ocean and watch dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, a lot of theme parks, where especially tourists with children can have fun on Tenerife, active sports (surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, paragliding, diving), Canarian and Spanish cuisine and of course pleasant vacation prices. The days spent in Tenerife are fascinating at any time of the year, because here you can always find things to do and what to see on the island!
If you have the unique chance to meet the sunrise in the higher parts of the island, you will be able to see and enjoy the enormous shadow of the volcano that for a while reaches hundreds of miles into the Atlantic Ocean.

Tenerife, Canary Islands – How to Get There?
Before planning a vacation on Tenerife, many people are wondering – where Canary Islands are located on the map of the world. The Canary archipelago (Las Islas Canarias) is located in the Atlantic Ocean, not far from the northwestern coast of Africa – Morocco and Western Sahara. So, you can get to Canary Islands either by air or by ferry.
By Air is the most popular way to get to Tenerife. Seven airports are located on Canary Islands, two of which – on Tenerife. Before buying tickets to Tenerife, check which airport you need tickets to – Tenerife North or South.
Consider also the option of visiting Tenerife and mainland Spain – for example, you can stay for a few days in Barcelona , and then from Barcelona go to Tenerife – flights between the regions are held several times a day, including a lot of cheap flights.
- Tenerife North (Tenerife Norte or Los Rodeos) – is an international airport serving flights between Tenerife and mainland Spain, Europe and other parts of the world. However, the most popular flight is Tenerife – Gran Canaria, which is usually made about 40 times a day. The Tenerife North airport is located near the capital of the island – Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
- Tenerife South (Tenerife South or Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia) – is another international airport of the island. Tenerife South is located 20 km away from Playa de Las Americas resort and 60 km from the capital of the island Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
How to get from the airports of Tenerife (South and North) to the main towns and beach resorts of the island:
- There’s a perfect bus service between the South Airport with the main resorts and the capital of Tenerife island, as well as the North Airport. So, it’s not difficult at all to get from Tenerife South airport to the resorts of the island by bus.
- Bus #111 runs between the capital of the island – Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the South Airport, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje resorts.
- Bus #343 connects Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife North airport and Tenerife South airport with Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje.
- Night bus #711 runs from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Tenerife South airport, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Routes #711, departing from the South Airport at 23.20 and 01.05, go not only to the bus station in Costa Adeje (Estación Costa Adeje), but ahead to El Duque shopping center.
- The bus fare is usually about €3-4. For example, to get from the South Airport to Costa Adeje you need to pay €3.70. And the fare from Tenerife North Airport to Tenerife South by bus #343 is €9.70.
- As for the Tenerife North airport, there are also several routes to the main beach resorts of the island from here.
- By taxi – the most convenient way to get from the airports of Tenerife immediately to your destination. A trip from Aeropuerto Tenerife Sur, for example
- To Costa Adeje costs about €25
- To Playa de Las Americas €20
- To Los Gigantes €55
- To Puerto de la Cruz €110
A single fare is set for taxi on Tenerife: the cost of 1 km of the trip from/to the airport is €1.70 (this applies to both South and North airports on Tenerife), but trips inside the cities and beach resorts on the island are cheaper. Remember, that in the evening after 22:00 taxi costs about 25% more. If you want to save money on your trip from the airport to the resort of Tenerife – you can get from the airport to the bus station of the resort by bus, and then take a taxi directly to the hotel or the apartments.
- Another convenient way to get from the airport to one of the beach resorts of Tenerife is to use a rented car. If you plan to rent a car for the whole vacation on Tenerife – it is convenient to rent it directly from the airport, so you will immediately start exploring the island and turn your trip from Tenerife airport to the hotel into the first real adventure on the island.
The Weather on Tenerife, Canary Islands – When is the Best Time to go to the Island?
Popular for tourism island Tenerife is green around the year or, as it is called, the island of “eternal spring”. Due to the fact that Tenerife is close to West Africa, it influences the weather of the island. There is no heat on Tenerife, and the tourist season lasts all year round. Those who like beach relax and trips around the island with no hot weather prefer to spend vacation on Canary Islands.
The island has several climatic zones, the weather in the north of Tenerife is different from the weather in the south, and snow is often at the top of Mount Teide
However, as elsewhere, there are low and high tourist seasons on the island. Below we describe the weather on Tenerife by months and tell you when it is the best time to go on holiday to Canary Islands, depending on the climate and not only it.
The island really has several climatic zones, and if you drive around Tenerife, you will notice the difference not only in the weather, but also in natural conditions. The north of Tenerife is more green, while the south is more droughty.
The tourist season on the island lasts all year round, and you can swim in the ocean at any time of the year – the water on Tenerife even in the coldest month (January) does not fall below 19°C.
The peak of the tourist season on Tenerife is in September and October – during the Velvet season the water in the ocean is the warmest and the island’s climate is the most pleasant. As elsewhere, the high season on Tenerife is accompanied by higher prices for vacation rentals, tickets for flights, as well as a large number of tourists on the island.
The low season on Tenerife is not as clear as in places with a big difference in temperatures depending on the seasons, but there are less tourists on Tenerife in December, January, March and April.
As we wrote above, the swimming season on Tenerife lasts all year round, but from April to November the water is the warmest, and the best months for swimming in the ocean on Tenerife are September and October.
As for climate, a subtropical climate with dry warm comfortable weather prevails on Tenerife all year round. It is usually warmer in the south and west of Tenerife than in the north of the island. Rain on Tenerife occurs not frequently, there is no clearly defined rainy season on the island, but in December and January it rains more often.
On average, year-round temperature on Tenerife ranges from + 15 ° C at night to + 25 ° C during the day.
Spring on Tenerife is the time of comfortable weather with sunny days and rare rains, the water temperature at this time of the year rises to + 20°C, and the average temperature on Tenerife during the day is + 21°C in March, +22°C in April and + 24°C in May. There are no crowds of tourists during the spring on Tenerife, and the weather is comfortable for traveling around the island with a guidebook and enjoying the atmosphere of Canary Islands.
Tenerife island is attractive for many tourists because there is no sweltering heat even in summer. At this time of the year, cool weather with low humidity prevails on Tenerife island. The average daytime temperature on Tenerife in June, July and August is +26°C + 29°C, and the water temperature is +21°C +23°C. In the north of the island during the summer months it’s quiet windy, which is attractive for fans of water sports (windsurfing, kite surfing, etc.).
Daytime temperatures fall a bit by autumn on Tenerife, but the weather is still pleasant during this time of the year. Many tourists prefer to spend autumn on Tenerife, despite the fact that the number of rainy days increases slightly – up to 8 days a month. However, the temperature of the water in the fall on Tenerife is the warmest (+ 22°C + 23°C), which is a key point for many tourists when choosing the time when to go to Tenerife. Daily average temperatures in September, October and November on Tenerife are also more than comfortable (+ 23°C + 28°C).
Winter on Tenerife attracts a large number of tourists due to its mild climate conditions. Despite the increased number of rainy days, warm weather prevails on the island in December, January and February, and, with the exception of rainy time, the climate of Tenerife allows tourists to spend time on the beaches. In winter, warmer weather is in the south of Tenerife, but do not forget that everywhere on the island at this time of the year nights are cold.
In December, January and February on Tenerife the water temperature is + 19°С, and the average daily temperatures are + 20°C + 21°С. An important benefit for many is that winter is a time not only for a comfortable climate, but also for the lowest prices for holidays on Tenerife island.

Where to Stay at Beach Resorts on Tenerife: Useful Information About + Best Vacation Rentals
Below we describe the main destinations, towns and beach resorts of Tenerife, as well as we give a recommended list of best hotels and apartments based on feedback from tourists who visited the island.
- Puerto de la Cruz
- Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- Costa Adeje
- Playa de las Americas
- Los Cristianos
- San Andres
Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz is the second most popular beach resort on Tenerife, which is located in the north of the island. In the past, it was the main resort of Tenerife island, but after Las Americas was built in the south, Puerto de la Cruz lost its primacy in tourism on Tenerife. Nowadays Puerto de la Cruz is a popular Tenerife town, which is usually chosen by those who prefer to spend holidays in the north of the island (mostly elderly tourists spend vacation here, many young people will be bored in this area of Tenerife).
Puerto de la Cruz is an attraction of Tenerife and a truly Canarian city with its traditions and unique atmosphere. You should definitely visit it at least for a day trip, even if you prefer to stay at one of the beach resorts in the south of Tenerife island. In Puerto de la Cruz take a walk through the streets and promenade, spend time in one of the cafes and restaurants to enjoy true Canarian cuisine.
Restaurants in this part of Tenerife are famous for their cuisine, mostly due to the fact that there are not as many tourists as in the south of the island, and many places are popular among locals, which is an absolute indicator of the quality. And as it often happens, best restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz are located not on the main street, but on small streets inside the city. Remember the fact that if the restaurant is inconspicuous outside, it says absolutely nothing about its cuisine. There are many small cozy restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz, where you should try fish, seafood and canarian dishes.
This area of Tenerife has a wide choice of hotels and holiday apartments. It is difficult to find hotels with a large territory, because urban-type hotels are mostly located in Puerto de la Cruz. But there are many green gardens and squares with colorful plants in the town where tourists and locals prefer to walk and relax. One of the main tourist attractions of Tenerife – Loro Park is located in Puerto de la Cruz. You can watch many kinds of animals and birds, as well as a large number of plants and flowers there. Almost everyone who comes to Tenerife visits Loro Park, and this trip can be combined with a walk through Puerto de la Cruz town.
The best vacation rentals in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife based on tourist reviews:
- 52€ per night – Bungalow Aloha, 9,2 points
- 57€ per night – Céntrico, amplio y con balcón cerca del MAR, 9,6 points
- 76€ per night – APTOS. BAHIA PLAYA II LUXURY TWO ROOMS, 9,8 points
Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island, the region and an important city not only for tourists but of course for locals. Surrounded by Anaga mountains, Santa Cruz lies on a flat part of one of the mountains in the northeast of Tenerife. The main reason for which the island’s capital, Santa Cruz, attracts tourists – is great shopping opportunities. There are many shopping centers, but the most popular shops and boutiques are based on the Plaza la Candelaria and the pedestrian street Calle de Castillo. You should definitely visit the city market “Mercado de Nuestra Señora de Africa” in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where you can buy fruits, vegetables and rare spices. The market in the capital of Tenerife attracts tourists not only with its goods, but also with the unusual and unique way it looks.
If you prefer to stay on one of the Tenerife beach resorts, make a day trip and visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the attractions of the city. Enjoy the walk through the “old city” of Santa Cruz, or take a sightseeing tour and visit the attractions of the capital of Tenerife, starting from Plaza de Espana and moving towards Carta palace, the Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, baroque churches – St. Francis (17-18 cc.) and Iglesia-la-Concepcion (16-18 cc.). The Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Military History, the Municipal Museum of Painting and Sculpture – you can spend an interesting and informative time in the capital of Tenerife.
And if you are not interested in city tours, go around the capital of Tenerife: visit 2 popular beaches – Las Teresitas (Playa de las Teresitas) and Las Gaviotas (Playa de las Gaviotas), take a trip to Anaga mountains and enjoy the views of the national park.
Even if you stay in one of the southern resorts of Tenerife, we recommend to visit the north of the island and its capital – you will have unforgettable emotions from the trip.
The best accommodation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, based on tourist reviews:
- 46€ per night – Marina Suite, 9,5 points
- 57€ per night – Home Bassou, 9,7 points
- 60€ per night – CENTRAL FLAT IN SANTA CRUZ, 9,5 points
Costa Adeje
Costa Adeje – the most comfortable beach resort for tourism on Tenerife, located in the south of the island. This is our favorite part of the island and twice we stayed on Tenerife in Costa Adeje. If you have a look on google map of Tenerife, you’ll see that Costa Adeje is located next to Las Americas resort. And the more far away from it, the more relaxed, quite and comfortable atmosphere you can enjoy in Costa Adeje. Families and those who like relaxed holidays prefer to spend their time in this part of Tenerife.
The most western part of Costa Adeje – near Plaza del Duque shopping center and the hotel Bahia del Duque is the most expensive and privileged on the island, here the best and the most expensive hotels and all inclusive resorts in Tenerife are situated. However, here you can also find hotels and apartments to rent at reasonable prices.
The infrastructure in Costa Adeje is well developed and everything is perfect for comfortable vacation.
- Beaches
- Bars
- Restaurants
- Shops and shopping centers
- Car rental
- Convenient public transport
make this part of Tenerife attractive for tourists. Many people when choosing where to stay on Tenerife choose Costa Adeje resort.
Here is the most beautiful beach on Tenerife (Playa del Duque), with sky-blue water. Two beautiful capes separate Playa del Duque beach from the longest beach in Costa Adeje – Playa Fanabe.
Along the Fanabe beach there is a shopping street with bars, restaurants and shops and entertainment, where tourists prefer to walk both in the afternoon and in the evening.
Keep in mind that mostly all these places are intended only for tourists, and you should not hope for a good cuisine with Canarian dishes here. In the area of Fanabe beach there are middle-class hotels and apartment complexes, it is convenient to stay here, because everything you need for a good holiday in Tenerife is at a walking distance.
To the east from Playa Fanabe in Costa Adeje there is a small beach Playa de Puerto Colon and the boats port, from where you can go on a boat trip. In the area of Playa de Puerto Colon beach there are many bars and restaurants and in the evening, compared to the western part of Costa Adeje, life here is really noisy and crowded. The closer from Costa Adeje to the east, to Las Americas, the louder and more funny time you can spend in the evenings.
In Costa Adeje there are several shopping centers, a big supermarket Mercadona in Gran Sur shopping center and a shopping street with a large range of goods. Nearby there is also Siam Mall with a really great amount of shops.
What about entertainment in Costa Adeje – Siam Park and Aqualand water parks are popular here, as well as visiting attractions, for example, the most beautiful cliffs in Los Gigantes or a village hidden in the mountains – Masca.
The Best Accommodation in Costa Adeje, Based on Tourist Reviews:
- 42€ per night – Apartamento moderno, Costa Adeje, 9,5 points
- 47€ per night – Miraverde, 9,3 points
- 57€ per night – H20 MAREVERDE, 8,7 points
- 65€ per night – Apartamento En Mareverde Resort, 8,0 points
- 80€ per night – Los Geranios, 9,3 points
Playa de las Americas
Playa de las Americas – is the second part of the best beach resort in Tenerife. At the same time, Las Americas radically differs from Costa Adeje. It is always noisy and overcrowded here. This is a favorite resort for young people, this is where young people prefer to relax on Tenerife. So, Las Americas is one of the few places on Tenerife where there is a nightlife.
The infrastructure is well developed here, and the prices for vacation rentals and entertainment are not so high (this is another reason why the resort is popular among young people). Mid-range and economy class hotels and apartment complexes predominate in Las Americas. There are a lot of sandy beaches in Las Americas, it’s always sunny with rare rains, and therefore the resort is popular among tourists at any time of the year.
The Best Accommodation in Playa de las Americas, Based on Tourist Reviews:
- 56€ per night – Holiday studio 3, 8,6 points
- 63€ per night – El Cortijo Luxury, 9,2 points
- 82€ per night – Playa Honda 1A008, 9,3 points
- 90€ per night – Captain Americas Apartment, 9,6 points
Los Cristianos
Geographically, Los Cristianos is the eastern part of the resort area for tourism in the south of Tenerife. Los Cristianos town is located between the Montaña de Guaza mountain and Playa de las Americas resort. The border between Las Americas and Los Cristianos resorts is only conditional, in fact one of the towns gradually flows into another one. However, Los Cristianos is completely different from its neighbor – Las Americas.
Los Cristianos is divided into 2 parts: western and eastern.
The western Los Cristianos is located next to Las Americas, this part of the resort is characterized by unique atmosphere – this is a neat Canarian town with narrow streets, small but cozy restaurants, fruit shops and slow life of local residents. Those who like calm towns to spend relaxed vacation prefer to rent accommodation in this area of Tenerife.
The eastern part of Los Cristianos is a classic vacation spot – there are many hotels and apartments for tourists. However, this is also a quiet and peaceful area of one of the most popular resorts in Tenerife. If you prefer a relaxing holiday, the only disadvantage in this area of Los Cristianos can be the distance from a good beach – Playa de las Vistas. There are not many entertainments for tourists in Los Cristianos – beaches and promenade walks, but at the same time you can easily reach Las Americas from here, where everyone will find both interesting and fun time.
The Best Accommodation in Los Cristianos, Based on Tourist Reviews:
- 54€ per night – Los Cristianos Port Royale, 8,8 points
- 77€ per night – Apartment Carmen Sunrise, 9,3 points
- 81€ per night – New Luxury Duplex Castle Harbour Cristianos, 9,3 points
San Andres
San Andres is a small village 7 km away from the capital of Tenerife – Santa Cruz. San Andres village got its popularity due to one of the most famous and visited beaches of the island – Playa de las Teresitas, which is located in San Andres at the very foot of the Anaga Mountains. Playa de las Teresitas is a white sand beach, framed by palm trees and pure ocean water, there are no big waves, which makes the beach a popular holiday destination on Tenerife, both among tourists and locals.
If you drive a little higher, you will get to the observation deck “Mirador de Las Teresitas”. Here is a breathtaking view onto Las Teresitas beach, which is often used on postcards, guidebooks and souvenirs about Tenerife. There is an interesting contrast from the observation deck Mirador de Las Teresitas: on the right there is a view to Las Teresitas beach with the white sand, brought specifically from the Sahara, and to the left there is a view to the Playa de las Gaviotas beach, with black volcanic sand.
Vacation in San Andrés is usually calm, and an indisputable advantage in tourism here is the proximity to the capital of Tenerife island – Santa Cruz, where you can go shopping, and also have a useful, informative and fun time.
The Best Accommodation in San Andres, Based on Tourist Reviews:
- 56€ per night – Home Gaby, 9,4 points
- 62€ per night – Precioso Atico con Vistas en el Centro de Santa Cruz, 9,7 points
- 80€ per night – Apartamento en la Playa y Montaña, 9,2 points

Teide Volcano and National Park, Los Roques de Garcia
One of the main attractions of Spain, the symbol of the island and the place of must-visit on Tenerife – Teide volcano and national park. Teide is a place of attraction for both locals and tourists of the island; this is number 1 on the tourism list of what to see on Tenerife. The national park surprises with its unusual, “cosmic” nature and endless landscapes. Excursion to the volcano and Teide National Park is very popular, the undoubted advantage is the location of the volcano – in the center of the island, and therefore it is convenient to get here wherever you stay on Tenerife.
The height of Teide volcano is more than 3500 meters. We advise to use the funicular to get to the top (do not forget to take warm clothes with you), and along the way enjoy the views of Teide National Park from height. The territory of the main national park of Tenerife reaches 17 km in diameter, and the most beautiful panoramas of the park you can see from the funicular.
If you go to Teide volcano by a rented car – you can drive to the parking directly near the funicular which will take you to the top. Trained tourists sometimes cross the 2000-meter-high path on foot, and then take the funicular. You can get to the top of Teide volcano on the cable car all year round, but sometimes it is closed because of the weather conditions. Therefore, before travel to Teide volcano, check out the weather forecast for this region of Tenerife.
The cost of the funicular ride is € 27 for an adult and € 13.50 for children up to 14 years. Working hours of the funicular to the top of Teide volcano – from 9.00 to 16.00.
The funicular does not reach the very top of Teide, and if you want, you can climb to the highest point, breaking another 200 m. But keep in mind that for this it is necessary to get a special permit in the administration of the national park. You can get it free of charge, all you need is to show your passport.
A distinctive feature of Teide National Park on Tenerife are multi-colored areas of lava. Over time, these areas got fancy forms, and the most famous of them are the Rocks de Garcia (Los Roques de Garcia). There are many legends about these rocks on Tenerife, and the rocks themselves are one of the symbols not only of Tenerife, but of the whole Spain.
In the past, Los Roques de Garcia were depicted on banknotes. Even if you are not going to climb the peak of Teide volcano, take time to visit the national park and walk to Los Roques de Garcia, these places are extraordinarily beautiful. The most colorful time to visit Teide National Park is from April to June, when flowers and plants are in bloom.

Loro Park
Loro Park (Parrot Park) – is one of the most popular tourist places in Tenerife and the most popular theme park in Spain. Almost every tourist on Tenerife visits Loro Park during his stay on the island. Not a single list in the guides of what to visit and see on Tenerife does not remain without mentioning Loro Park.
Loro Parque is one of the projects of the Kisling family, who own some of the biggest tourism entertainments on Tenerife. At first the park was intended as a place for various species of parrots in natural conditions. But over its 60-years history, Loro Park has changed a lot, and now it is a park with an impressive territory, home to one of the world’s largest collections of parrots (350 species and subspecies), various species of animals, penguins and sharks.
Loro Park there is a
- Zoological garden
- Aquarium
- Swimming pools with entertainment shows and much more.
Visiting Loro Park usually takes a significant part of the day, we spent time from early morning until 17 o’clock in the park, there are really a lot of interesting and fascinating things to do and to watch. For example, the area at the entrance to the park is made in Thai style, with a pond in which carps live.
The cost of visiting Loro Park is €37 for adults and €25 for children. “Twin ticket” (visiting both Loro Parque and Siam Park) – €64 for adults, if you plan to visit both parks, it’s better to buy a twin ticket at a time to save some money.
After you buy the entrance ticket, do not forget to take a map with a schedule of the shows in the most visited park on Tenerife. Build your itinerary in Loro Park according to the start time of the shows you want to visit.
Keep in mind that if you want to sit in the first rows at shows in pools with dolphins and etc. – it is better to take a raincoat, because your clothes can get wet (and take care of your camera!).
Loro Park is located in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife. If you go to Loro Park by car, there is a parking (it costs € 4) where you can leave it. You can also visit Loro Park by bus with a guided tour from the main beach resorts of Tenerife. And it definitely makes sense to visit the park, for good reason since its foundation in 1972, it has already been visited by 45 million people.
Working hours of Loro Park on Tenerife: daily from 10.00 to 18.45

Siam Park
Siam Park is a water park and a so-called new (compared to Loro Park) project of the Kisling family. Siam Park was built in the south of Tenerife in 2008 and in fact it replaced the already outdated Aqualand Costa Adeje. Siam Park situated in Spain is among the TOP-3 water parks in Europe and it is not surprising, because despite the small number of water rides, they all are special.
The territory of Siam Park is beautifully decorated and well-kept, while the architecture gives visitors the atmosphere of a fairy tale. That’s why Siam Park is a popular tourism destination on Tenerife. Just like in Loro Park, Asian themes dominate here. And by the way, Siam Park is the world’s largest complex of Thai-style buildings outside of Thailand.
The main attraction of Siam Park is the 28-meter-high Tower of Power slide. The queue to this attraction in Siam Park is always long, but the thrill compensates its long awaiting: first you fly down almost vertically, and then get into a glassy tube passing through the aquarium with sharks. The rest of the attractions are not so breathtaking, but they are also interesting to adults. There is not much entertainment for small children of preschool age in Siam Park, and if your goal is bright emotions for children, it is better to go to Aqualand.
In addition to the slides in Siam Park, there is a
- Pool with warm water and a 3-meter-long artificial wave
- Sandy beach with sun beds
- 3 cafes with drinks and snacks
- 2 small restaurants.
Siam Park is located in the most popular resort in the south of Tenerife – Costa Adeje. Those who live nearby can go to Siam Park on foot, while others can get to Siam Park by car (parking costs €3), by bus (a free bus runs around nearby resorts from Costa Adeje to Los Cristianos) or by taxi.
Price for visiting Siam Park in Tenerife – €37 for adults, €25 for children.
Twin tickets are €64 and €43.50 for adults and children (visiting Siam Park and Loro Park).
Working hours of Siam Park – daily from 10.00 to 18.00, in summer, daily from 10.00 to 17.00, in winter.

AquaLand Costa Adeje
Aqualand – the first water park on Tenerife. After the construction of a new water park (Siam Park), Aqualand had a hard time, because most of the visitors went to the new one. The fact is that Aqualand is also in the south of Tenerife in Costa Adeje, just near Siam Park. Therefore, the management of Aqualand changed the policy and directed its activities more to visitors with children (from 3 to 9 years old). Unlike Siam Park, in Aqualand water slides are suitable for children, and this is the emphasis of the park. Another distinctive feature of Aqualand is the dolphin show, which is considered to be much better rather than the one in Loro Park.

The parks specialized in different performances and they had the same popularity among tourists of the island.
However, Loro Park has developed over time, constantly warming up the interest of tourists, which is not the case of Jungle Park. And now Loro Park is considered to be a much more interesting and popular attraction in Tenerife than Jungle Park. Fishing in Tenerife
As for fishing, on Tenerife there are 2 options: to fish from the shore or from the boat. Many people really prefer fishing right from the breakwaters in the resorts, it is less expensive, because you only need to have fishing bait. But in this case, you should remember about the ban on fishing in ports.
If you want to go fishing in Tenerife from the coast, it’s better to drive to the west of the island, beyond La Caleta village, in this area fishing will be more interesting and rich in emotions.
As a bait it is better to use
- raw shrimp

La Orotava is an ancient town in Tenerife, where the local population (Guanches) lived on the island before the Spaniards came here. The town is located in a fertile and rich in water valley. Today, La Orotava is a popular tourist destination in Tenerife. It is definitely worth coming here to walk around the historic center of the city and enjoy the views of the classic Canarian houses built in the 17-18 centuries.
Among what to visit in La Orotava, we can highlight:
- Casa de los Balcones – which is an example of classic Canarian architecture with traditional balconies. The balconies are a feature of Casa de los Balcones, since during the construction it was the most expensive part of the building, made of the best pine species. Such balconies at that time were a sign of wealth and high cost of the building. Nowadays there are a colonial museum and a craft workshop inside the building, you can buy there souvenirs made by Canarian craftsmen. The working hours of Casa de los Balcones are daily from 8.30 to 19.00, entry fee – €4
- Casa del Turista is located opposite Casa de los Balcones, this is the oldest house in La Orotava and can also be visited and seen not only from outside

- Visit also the observation deck Mirador de Humboldt, which offers an incredible view of La Orotava valley
- Often tourists on Tenerife combine a trip to La Orotava with a visit to the Meson el Monasterio restaurant. The restaurant is actually a complex of restaurants within the walls of a former monastery.
If you visit La Orotava in June, you will have a great opportunity to catch the solemn procession in order of the “Corpus Christi”. The procession passes through the streets of La Orotava. On this occasion, the streets of La Orotava are decorated with so-called carpets of flowers, sand and stones.

In 2019, Carpet Day will be celebrated in La Orotava on June 27th, and in 2020 – on June 18th. This is one of the most famous carnivals on Tenerife.

Masca
Masca is a small, but pretty and popular tourist village in Tenerife. Masca is located in the mountains, and to get into the village you need to drive through a serpentine. There are legends about Masca that the pirates hid here on Tenerife in the past.
Only about 120 people live in Masca village nowadays, however there are places for tourists and shops here. You can go to Masca on Tenerife, both on a self-made trip and during the bus tour around the island. And if you prefer active time during vacation, then you should definitely make time to visit Masca village, because this is where the hiking itinerary along the gorge to the ocean begins.
Having crossed the hiking route from Masca to the ocean, you will see much more than from the observation deck in the village. The itinerary lasts about 9 km, and you do not need special skills, the hiking route on Tenerife from Masca to the ocean is taken even by children and elderly people. If during your vacation on Tenerife you want to go on a hiking adventure from Masca village, all you need to have are sneakers, drinking water and a camera to make colorful photos of Tenerife.
Hiking route from Masca to the ocean ends on a small rocky beach. In order not to overcome the way in 9 km in both directions – many people prefer to go from the beach to Los Gigantes by boat, which runs several times a day. The schedule and cost of the tickets for the boat you can easily find in Masca before the start of the hiking route.
How to get to Masca gorge?
If you travel around Tenerife by car, it is better to drive to Los Gigantes and leave your car there, then take a taxi to Masca village, and after passing the hiking route (expect about 4 hours on the way), return to Los Gigantes by boat. We advise you not to delay and go to Masca as early in the morning as possible, the last boat leaves to Los Gigantes at about 16 o’clock, and if you don’t have enough time for it – there is a risk of going back along the route in the dark.
If you decide to drive directly to Masca, follow the TF-1 road west to Santiago del Teide, and in front of the church, turn left onto the TF-436 highway following the sign to Masca.
You can also get to Masca by public transport. For example, take the bus number 460 from Las Americas to Santiago del Teide, and then change the bus number 355 to Masca village.
Currently Masca gorge is closed to the public because of the construction works. The planned opening of the road to Masca is scheduled for March-April 2019
Los Gigantes
The majestic and beautiful cliffs of Los Gigantes always amazed visitors and the locals. Cliffs rising from water on 300-600 meters will hardly leave anyone indifferent, no matter if they admire Los Gigantes from the observation deck or from water. In Los Gigantes town on Tenerife island there are several observation decks at different height, the view from each of them on the rocks is amazing. And if you go down to the port, you can join a boat trip and see Los Gigantes rocks from the ocean, many believe that this is how their beauty is fully revealed.
Boat trips from Las Americas also come to Los Gigantes, so you can combine visiting this place in Tenerife with others during a sea adventure and there will be no need to drive to Los Gigantes specifically by car or public transport.
Surprisingly, but the rocks go only 30 meters away in the depths above the ocean level, it attracts divers and fishing lovers to this place on Tenerife.
We visited Los Gigantes at sunset, it was the last point of our itinerary on a trip around the island by car. And at this time of the day the rocks were a little in haze, and the sun was setting right behind them, so the view was not too colorful. If you want to see Los Gigantes in bright colors – go here in the morning or in the afternoon.
To get to Los Gigantes by car, follow the TF-1 highway and then take the TF-46, the road here is very colorful and in some places runs through banana plantations. Going down the highway, you will reach Los Gigantes resort.

The Esperanza Forest (Bosque de la Esperanza)
The north and the south of Tenerife differ from each other in natural conditions. There are forests in different parts of the island, but Esperanza forest in northeastern part of Tenerife is no match for forests in the south. Due to the high humidity, the plants feel great here and the forest is full of animals and mushrooms. You can drive through Esperanza forest along the TF-24 highway from Teide volcano to La Laguna. Stop at any place you like and walk through Esperanza forest, you will enjoy it! We advise to pay special attention to the forest area near La Esperanza town, here the pines are replaced by eucalyptus trees, and the air is filled with an indescribable fresh aroma.
It is convenient to combine visiting Esperanza forest with a trip to Teide volcano. To make such a trip, follow the TF-21 around Teide Peak to the north of the island, and then at the intersection with TF-24, take this route and continue until a dense forest begins. If you prefer to go to Esperanza forest by bus – catch one from the bus station in La Laguna.

In the past, Garachico was the richest city on Tenerife. At that time, the most significant and busy port of the island and one of the main ports of Spain was located in Garachico, from where sugar and wine were shipped to Europe, and goods for the locals were brought to Tenerife. The people of Garachico were considered the most wealthy on Tenerife, but soon the fate of the island’s most wealthy town changed dramatically.
On May 5, 1706 the most of Garachico town, including its port, was destroyed by the eruption of the Montaña Negra volcano. The hot lava began to move on the city early in the morning, the inhabitants of Garachico managed to survive, but the town itself was hopelessly destroyed. Soon Garachico was rebuilt, but it was no longer a prosperous town on Tenerife, but rather a fishing village. In 2012, a new port was opened in Garachico.
Nowadays Garachico is a small town quite popular among tourists, the peculiarity of which is the rocky coast of frozen lava. The coast has a strange shape, thereby forming natural pools, which are very popular with locals and guests of Tenerife. If you are not visiting Garachico with a group tour, but on your own, take your time to swim in the natural pools of Garachico.
And if you are only passing by and want just to look at Garachico – stop at the observation deck “Mirador de Garachico” – here is the best view on the town. Garachico is included in the list of must-visit places according to many guidebooks on Tenerife, do not miss the opportunity to see the town at least from height.

Guimar Pyramids
For those who are interested in archaeological monuments we advise to go to the Güímar Pyramids (the most mysterious place from the Tenerife guidebooks). The pyramids are located in Güímar town in the south-east of the island.
The origin of the pyramids in this area of Spain is still not clear. According to one version, the pyramids were built by peasants who put together the stones found during the agricultural work. It was made in order to protect against mudflows. However, the disproving version says that mudflows and mountain streams are not typical for this region of Tenerife, moreover, no signs of settlements and land cultivation were found near Güímar.
According to another, more logical version, the Güímar Pyramids have some astronomical meaning. It is proved that on the top of the highest of the six Güímar Pyramids at the summer solstice there is an opportunity to watch the sunset twice. These Spanish pyramids are similar in shape to the pyramids of Mexico and Peru, but scientists from different countries still cannot solve both the meaning and their main purpose.
Güímar pyramids is a popular tourist destination in Tenerife. An ethnological park and a museum were built here, as well as photo exhibition and an exhibition devoted to researching the versions of the origin of Güímar Pyramids.
The entrance to the park and Güímar pyramids costs €18 for adults, €5.50 for children from 9 to 12 years old and €12.50 for students up to 25 years.
The time to visit Güímar Pyramids is daily from 9.00 to 18.00, except December 25th and January 1st.

El Duque beach is really the most beautiful and luxurious among equipped for relaxing beaches on Tenerife, guidebooks always include it in the list of places that must be visited in Spain.
Playa El Duque is located in Costa Adeje resort in the south of Tenerife. Here everything is made for a comfortable stay. On the beach you can rent sunbeds of different levels of comfort, nearby there are bars, restaurants and shops, including grocery. But of course El Duque beach attracts tourists not only with its infrastructure, but the beautiful landscapes surrounding the beach. El Duque Beach is full of exotic plants, on the left the beach is surrounded by a rocky cliff, where the famous villa (it is often portrayed on Tenerife postcards) is situated, and directly above the beach the most beautiful and fashionable Tenerife hotel – Bahia del duque, is located.
There is an embankment along Playa El Duque, where it is pleasant to walk during the day and go jogging in the morning. The sand on El Duque beach is fine and light, and the water has an indescribable turquoise color. From the cliffs on the left side of the beach, you can admire El Duque from above, as well as take a photo of the most beautiful beach in Tenerife.
During our both trips to Tenerife, we stayed not far from El Duque beach and enjoyed our time there with pleasure. Despite the popularity of the beach, the atmosphere on Playa El Duque is always calm and pleasant.

Las Teresitas Beach (Playa de las Teresitas)
Not far from the capital of Tenerife – Santa Cruz, there is another famous beach – Las Teresitas. This beach is often used on the pictures, postcards, guidebooks and souvenirs about Tenerife. The sand for Las Teresitas beach was specially brought from the African Sahara desert, it has an unusual for the island of volcanic origin golden color. Las Teresitas Beach stretches for 1.3 km in the north of Tenerife, a strip of golden sand on one side is surrounded by palm trees, on the other – by clear water with no big waves, which are usual for many other beaches on Tenerife.
There are no big waves on Las Teresitas because of the breakwaters along the beach, which make it safe for swimming, even for small children. The only disadvantage when visiting Las Teresitas beach can be a large number of tourists. If you decide to go to Las Teresitas beach from the south of the island, choose a weekday for your trip. Las Teresitas is always crowded, especially on weekends, as not only tourists but also the locals prefer to relax here.
However, even if you do not plan to relax on Las Teresitas beach, it is definitely worth seeing. To do this, it is better to go to the observation deck “Mirador Las Teresitas”, from where a beautiful view opens onto Las Teresitas Beach and its surroundings. There is no fence on Mirador Las Teresitas, and you should be extremely careful there. The feature of this place in Tenerife is that from one side the observation deck overlooks Las Teresitas beach with golden sand, and from the other – Las Gaviotas beach with natural volcanic black sand. These landscapes clearly demonstrate the diversity and beauty of nature on Tenerife.
It’s impossible to get to Mirador Las Teresitas from the beach on foot. You can get there by car – at the entrance to Las Teresitas beach, you need to take left – the road that goes up to the Anaga mountain range. You can also admire Las Teresitas beach from the observation deck if you come here by bus – for this in San Andres village take the #945 bus to the “Mirador” stop.

Benijo Beach (Playa de Benijo)
The most beautiful wild beach of Tenerife, located in the north of the island, is called Benijo. This is a natural beach with black volcanic sand and clear ocean.
Benijo beach is good only for admiring it, it is not equipped for swimming. Moreover, it is dangerous to swim on Benijo due to the rocky coast, strong winds and the flow. Tourists and locals come to the north of Tenerife to enjoy the view of Beniho beach. Some of them prefer to lie on the beach, some to make photos of one of the most beautiful beaches on Tenerife, some go windsurfing – Beniho offers interesting time for everyone.
Before the trip to Benijo, look at the low tide time, as the beach looks more attractive at low tide. And of course, it is better to go to Benijo beach on weekdays.
Tejita Beach (Playa de la Tejita)
Spacious beach in El Médano on Tenerife. It is always non-crowded here, if you wish, you can rent a sunbed. Tejita Beach shows the beauty of Tenerife. There are often waves here, but swimming on Tejita is quite pleasant. To the left of Tejita beach there is Montana Roja – there are stairs and walking paths on it, the view from the mountain to the beach is impressive.
Part of the beach near Montana Rocha is made for nudists. We liked Tejita beach in calm weather, but on days when the wind blows here, the beach is more suitable for walking than for relax – the wind raises the waves and the sand on the beach.
Leocadio Machado Beach (Playa Leocadio Machado)
The beach popular among surfers which is situated behind the other side of Montana Roxa. The beach is really beautiful, and multi-colored kitesurfs and windsurfs give this beach on Tenerife a special atmosphere.
On the beach you can take surfing lessons, but even if you do not prefer water sports, this beach in Spain is definitely worth visiting due to its beauty. Be ready for the strong wind on Leocadio Machado beach.
Bollullo Beach (Playa del Bollullo)
A really nice beach for relax in the north of Tenerife. Black volcanic sand and colorful towels and umbrellas of beach visitors make it attractive when viewed from the top of Playa del Bollullo. There is plenty of space to relax and the beach is perfect for swimming. The only disadvantage when visiting can be parking difficulties and the road leading directly to the beach.
The road is narrow, two cars in different directions can not move here, so someone constantly has to pass back to the wider parts of the road to give way. When several cars meet at one place – it may take time to get to the destination. But as for the time spent at Playa del Bollullo – we liked it a lot.
Los Gigantes Beach
There are both a small beach and natural pools in frozen lava. Such pools as in Los Gigantes are quite unusual, and we advise you to come here before sunset to enjoy the romantic atmosphere of this place.
Other Beaches of Tenerife
Above we named only the beaches that we liked more than others in Tenerife. In general, the island has a great number of beaches, although not all of them are comfortable for swimming. The beaches on the main resorts of the south of Tenerife are mostly similar to each other (with the possible exception of El Duque beach). The beaches on resorts are usually crowded, noisy and well-developed for leisure.
For example, Fanabe in Costa Adeje (Playa de Fanabe) is a spacious beach with bars and restaurants, sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, as well as entertainment for tourists. Beaches in Las Americas are similar to it.
There are several more beaches that we visited on Tenerife and which I would like to mention:
Mareta beach (Playa la Mareta) – classic “wild” beach on Tenerife. Dark volcanic sand, rocky coast and often large waves make Mareta Beach not so pleasant for swimming, but here you can relax and have a good time alone with nature.
El Horno (Playa El Horno) – is a small beach near Mareta beach. There are no such dangerous rocks, the wind is usually blowing and so there are waves – the beach is popular among surfers.
Honda beach (Playa Honda) – a small beach in a town in the east of Tenerife. It is definitely not worth going here specifically, but if you stay nearby – consider this beach for relax. Playa Honda is good for swimming and relaxing. When we visited Playa Honda, there were people with diving equipment, and so we decided that there are good conditions for those who would like to watch the underwater world in Tenerife.
Car Rental on Tenerife
If you want to learn more about the Spanish island Tenerife, see the attractions of the island on your own and drive through its different climatic zones – it is more convenient to rent a car (and not to forget Tenerife guidebook). Undoubtedly, there are a lot of advantages on self-made trips around Tenerife – you choose what attractions and places of the island to visit and you don’t have to waste your time waiting for anyone (as it happens during group excursions).
Rented car on Tenerife will allow you to visit different beaches, and your impressions of the vacation on the island will be brighter. And of course, by car it is convenient to visit shopping centers on Tenerife, because there are a lot of them on the island. No doubt, during vacation on Tenerife, you can do without a car, especially if you are not going to travel outside your resort. In this case you can also take group tour around the island. But if you really want to get to know the island, renting a car is a guarantee of the saved time, convenience and pleasant impressions.
A large number of car rental companies are represented on Tenerife – from the largest Sixt, Hertz, Europcar to local Cicar, etc. If you are planning to rent a car for the whole vacation on Tenerife, it is convenient to pick up the car right at the airport and return it at the airport too. And if you are going to rent a car for just a few days to get acquainted with Tenerife – for your convenience, use the “deliver to the hotel” and “pick up from the hotel” services, and you won’t have to go anywhere for the car.
You can choose a car either in advance on companies websites or upon arrival on Tenerife. On the main streets, as well as along the beaches of the resorts, for example Costa Adeje and Las Americas, there are a lot of car rental companies. Of course, if you travel to Tenerife during the high season, it is better to book a car in advance, but even upon arrival you can always find a suitable option. The longer the rental period is, the better the price will be. The highest cost of car rental will be if you take a car for just 1 day. In high season, prices for rental cars in Tenerife start at €35 per day.
What you should pay attention to when choosing a car for rent is insurance. Options with full insurance usually cost more, but such insurance covers any damage of the car (except those caused due to an accident on your fault and drunk driving). We prefer to rent a car with full insurance to avoid further possible problems. The second insurance option is a franchise. With this option, a certain amount is blocked on your card as a deposit for possible damage. When renting a car with such an insurance option, you should be prepared for the fact that the money on the card will not be unlocked immediately after you return the car, but within a month (if there are no controversial issues).
See current car rental prices on your Tenerife trip dates.
Surfing on Tenerife
Tenerife is a popular place in Spain for water sports. There are wonderful conditions for surfing – the winds blow on the island all year round (but on different spots). Many go to Tenerife especially for surfing, as there are beginner schools on the island. If you are a beginner, you shouldn’t try surfing in Tenerife on your own in a place you like – the nature is unpredictable here and it can be dangerous.
The spots for surf beginners in Tenerife are located in Las Americas resort area:
- Derecha del Cartel
- La Fitenia
- El Medio
- El Conquistador
- La Izquierda
All these spots in Las Americas are similar in conditions (the waves here reach 1-4 meters), however, they are intended for different levels of surfing.
Usually, all beginners start surfing on Tenerife on El Medio spot. Nearby there are international surfing schools with English and Spanish instructors. And of course there is board rental. Do not forget that for surfing on Tenerife you also need a wetsuit and coral shoes.
The spots for advanced surfers are mainly located in the north of Tenerife.
Approximate prices for surfing in Tenerife:
- Surf schools often offer accommodation and group activities on Tenerife, with an average cost of €450 per person for 7 days.
- Surfing lessons without accommodation cost €35 per person for 1 lesson with a group and €70 for an individual lesson. Many schools offer a price of €100 for an individual lesson for 2 people.
Shopping on Tenerife
Shopping is the main purpose of visiting Tenerife for many tourists. In addition to the fact that Spain is famous for shopping, the main advantage of shopping in Tenerife is that Canary Islands have a duty-free zone, and the prices for goods here are lower than in mainland Spain. Traditionally, tourists bring cosmetics and perfumes, clothing and shoes from Canary Islands, and Tenerife in particular. Sales in Tenerife start twice a year and prices are even lower during this time. Summer sales last from July 1 to August 31, winter – from January 7 to March 6.
On the central streets of the main resorts of Tenerife you can easily find a great number of stores with mass-market goods. In addition, there are large shopping centers (often called Centro Comercial). Below we give more information about shopping in the resorts of Tenerife.
Costa Adeje and Las Americas – the heart of shopping in the south of Tenerife. And its center is the main street of Las Americas – Avenida de las Americas, which has “Golden Mile” name.
Here is a great number of mass market shops, as well as more expensive brands, for example
- D&G
- Armani
- Prada
- Gucci
- Hugo Boss
- Escada, etc.
The Plaza del Duque Shopping Center is located in Costa Adeje, near Playa El Duque beach. A small shopping center was built for expensive boutiques, but now low-priced brands are located on the ground floor here too.
Gran Sur is one more shopping center in Costa Adeje. There are very few shops here, and all of them are not worth attention. The only thing Gran Sur is attractive about is the big Mercadona supermarket. Here in Costa Adeje you can buy all the necessary products, including fresh fish and seafood to cook them by yourself.
Siam Mall – the mall which is located next to Siam Park water park.
Here is large number of brands:
- Mango
- Pull&Bear
- Bershka
- Calzedonia
- H&M
- Intimissimi
- Pandora
- Springfield
- Stradivarius
- Swarovski
- Timberland
- Zara
- Zara Home
- Women’Secret and etc.
You can get to the mall by free shuttle buses from the nearby resorts.
If you stay in one of the resorts in the south of Tenerife, first visit the shopping centers in this part of the island, it does not make sense to go to the north specifically for shopping.
But if you stay in the north of Tenerife, visit the shopping centers of the capital of the island – Santa Cruz
- El Corte Ingles
- Meridiano
- Tres de Mayo
are the most popular among the tourists in the capital of Tenerife.
At the entrance to Santa Cruz, near the highway, you can easily notice Carrefour shopping center (in fact, the shopping center is called Centro Comercial Santa Cruz Carrefour) – there is a large number of shops for budget shopping, as well as a grocery hypermarket.
Many shops are located on the pedestrian street Calle Castillo in the capital of the island. It is convenient to combine shopping and walking through the capital of Tenerife here.
Shopping in Tenerife can be really good, it has nothing to do with typical shopping at resorts, which usually offer souvenirs, beach accessories and cheap jewelry.
National Cuisine of Canary Islands + Our Review About the Best Tenerife Restaurants
The cuisine of Canary Islands, like the cuisine of Spain, traditionally consists of the freshest products and simple healthy recipes. Fish and seafood make up the majority of Canarian dishes.
Small cozy family restaurants are common on Tenerife, there you can taste true Canarian food and wine. Of course, one should not expect much from the restaurants in the resorts of Tenerife, where everything is mostly made for tourists. If during your holiday on Tenerife you want to try the authentic Canarian food – go to small towns and villages where is not such a big flow of tourists.
In the south of Tenerife visit La Caleta village, which is famous for its fish restaurants. Dine there on the shore of the ocean with Canarian cuisine – and you will remember this evening for a long time.
10 Traditional Canarian Dishes
- Different types of fish cooked in various ways, such as dorado, tuna, sardines and mackerel. Fish is usually served with sauces, including Mojo picon, made from pepper, cumin, marjoram, olive oil, and garlic
- Cooked in butter shrimps and langoustines with pepper or garlic
- Seafood with sauces: oysters, squid, mussels, octopus and more
- Boiled Vieja fish
- Traditional Canarian dish – Carne con Papas. It is a combination of potatoes with meat: pork, lamb, chicken, rabbit or beef
- Rabbit with spicy sauce (Conejo en salmorejo) – which is marinated for 10 hours before cooking. Usually served with canarian potatoes

- Rancho Canario – meat mix with the addition of noodles, peas, potatoes and vegetables
- Banana desserts Flan – caramelized banana desserts soaked in rum
- Truchas navidenas – small cakes filled with sweet varieties of potatoes, pumpkin syrup, almonds and raisins.
7 Bars and restaurants of Tenerife, which we visited and can safely recommend to visit in order to enjoy Canarian food
- Restaurante Roque las Animas in Taganana village in northeast of Tenerife
- Masei del Mar – fish restaurant on the ocean shore in La Caleta in the south of Tenerife
- Almar Tenerife – restaurant with Italian cuisine on the coastline of Costa Adeje resort. There is always fresh and well-cooked seafood, the menu is small, but all the dishes are really tasty. The restaurant is located on the second floor, while on the first, right under Almar Tenerife, there is an inconspicuous cafe with an absolutely simple interior, but this place was recommended to us by local people to enjoy paella. La Gran Paella Valenciana – if you want to eat paella, visit this place
- Meson Castellano – restaurant in Las Americas, which won the title of the best restaurant of Spanish cuisine. The prices are high, but this is not surprising, the cuisine here is excellent
- El Cordero in Guargacho – perfect place with a beautiful interior for enjoying Canarian cuisine
- El Taller Seve Diaz in Puerto de la Cruz – restaurant number 1 according to the rating of tripadvisor, and this is true
- Familiar – a great family restaurant in El Médano.

Our Review About Vacation on Tenerife
Before our first trip to the largest Canary Island, we did not hear any negative feedback about Tenerife. Active travelers, who do not like to just lie on the beach, will adore the island. On Tenerife, there is a large number of natural attractions, the main of which, perhaps, is Teide volcano. The island has several climatic zones, the hot and arid south of Tenerife is radically different from the often cloudy and green north.
The main advantage of a holiday on Tenerife is its year-round – the island has a mild comfortable climate, and the weather is perfect for vacation in any season.
To better learn and enjoy the island, we recommend renting a car and drive through Tenerife on your own. If you rent a car, you will have a good opportunity to visit different and beautiful beaches of Tenerife – both El Duque, La Tejita and Las Teresitas which are made for relax, as well as wild, but thus most attractive Benijo and Masca. Vacation on Tenerife offers great opportunities for active tourists – hiking trails, diving, fishing, visiting water parks, theme parks and a large number of excursions around the island. For many people Tenerife is attractive due to the opportunities for shopping – the prices for many goods are lower here than on mainland Spain. If you wish, the days on Tenerife will be really rich and bright on emotions, here you can always find the answer to the question of what to visit and see.
On the Spanish island Tenerife you can rent accommodation for every taste – from luxury hotels to guesthouses and hostels. For a vacation on Tenerife, we prefer Costa Adeje resort. Here is everything that is necessary for a comfortable stay, including Siam Park, shopping centers and the best beach on the island – El Duque, which is close to another good beach – Fanabe. During the first time we stayed in Costa Adeje in a hotel, and during the second visit to Tenerife, we chose apartments – there was a supermarket nearby, we often preferred to buy the freshest products (including fish and seafood) and cook by ourselves.
With the help of a rented car and a guidebook, we traveled all over Tenerife island, and we not only got acquainted with its amazing nature, but also visited many restaurants with Canarian cuisine and shopping centers.
It is believed that people often fall in love with Tenerife, and many of them come back again and again. We fully agree with this, and we recommend this island for vacation in Spain!
